
Carl V. van der Merwe
PASTOR
Carl V. van der Merwe was born in Klerksdorp, South Africa and grew up in Western Transvaal, South Africa. He received his BA from the Potchefstroomse University for Christian Higher Education in 1985 and his BD from the University of Pretoria, Faculty A in 1990.
He was ordained in the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa in 1990 and served as Chaplain in the South African Defense Force. He has ministered in churches in Clocolan and Vryburg, South Africa before he was called as a Church Planter to Greeneville, Tennessee in 1995.
Since 2005 he has served as pastor (pulpit supply) of Providence Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Bible Presbyterian Church. Carl and his wife, Elsie are blessed with two married children, Mariska and Stephan, and 5 grandchildren.

Bill Hunt
RULING ELDER
George W. (Bill) Hunt is a lifelong resident of Johnson City, TN
He began attending Asbury Presbyterian Church with his family while in elementary school. He graduated from University High and attended ETSU. He made a profession of faith at a young people’s event in 1970. Over the next several years he served as Sunday School teacher, Children’s Church teacher, Deacon, and Ruling Elder until Asbury Church closed. At that point, he and his wife, Sue, transferred their membership to Providence Presbyterian Church where he has continued to serve as Ruling Elder and Sunday School teacher for the past 22 years.

Larry Jilton
RULING ELDER
Larry Jilton, RE, Grew up in Johnson City TN. Came to Christ in 1983 strongly influenced by RC Sproul and the reformed faith. Attended Graham Bible College, in Bristol TN where he earned enough credit hours for the Associates degree in Biblical studies. He continues there serving on the board of directors as chairman. Married to his wife Anita they have 4 children. Larry was a self employed businessman in the automotive business for 39 years. Now retired enjoys reading and riding his electric bicycle.
